Strategic Recommendations for Agricultural Improvement

To further enhance agricultural productivity and support the local farming community, we recommend the following strategic actions:
  1. Invest in Rural Infrastructure:
    • Improve roads, bridges, and storage facilities to enhance market access and reduce transportation costs.
  2. Provide Access to Finance:
    • Facilitate credit facilities for farmers to invest in essential resources such as seeds, fertilizers, agrochemicals, machinery, and post-harvest operations.
  3. Support Agricultural Extension Services:
    • Strengthen extension services by recruiting and posting Extension Officers or training volunteers to provide technical assistance to farmers.
    • Introduce Electronic Extension (E-Extension) systems for farmers to receive information through mobile phones, television, or local focal points.
  4. Promote Value Chain Development:
    • Improve linkages between producers, processors, and markets to ensure higher prices for farmers and better-quality products for consumers.
  5. Encourage Private Sector Investment:
    • Create an enabling environment for private sector investment through incentives such as tax breaks, subsidies, and regulatory reforms.
  6. Empower Farmers Based Organizations/Groups:
    • Provide training on improved farming techniques and encourage the formation of cooperatives to access loans and enhance productivity.
